The School Day

Children should be brought to and collected from the school playground. Foundation children should be taken through their outside area, at the front of the building, and brought to and collected from their classrooms. We encourage parents to walk or cycle with their children to school.

The school day consists of a 3 part morning - reading, writing and maths, with cross curricular work and other subjects taking place in the afternoon.

General guidelines below, encourage staff to be responsive to events and adapt teaching as appropriate.

The school day is as follows:

8.45am Registration

10.45 – 11.00am Morning Break

11.45am – 1.00pm Lunch – Foundation

12.00pm – 1.00pm Lunch – Key Stage 1 and 2

3.20pm End of School

If you require Before or After School Care, please click here for further details.

School starts at 8.45am and children should be in the playground lining up a few minutes before this time. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time as it is disruptive for your child and the class when we have late arrivals. If for any reason your child does arrive after 8.45am – please bring them into school via the front doors so that the office can register them. If your child has a medical appointment and you know they will be arriving after 8.45am then please let us know before hand and whether they will require a hot lunch on that day – we need to order hot meals by 9.30am. Any unreported absences will be checked by the office staff.

If your child is absent from school for any unplanned reason (e.g. illness), please would parents inform the school by telephone using the pupil absence message line every day they are absent.

Your child should be picked up from the playground at 3.20pm – again please be prompt as some children do get very upset if parents are late! Obviously there may be occasions when you are unavoidably late, if this is the case please let the office know as early as you can – preferably before 3pm – so that a message can be given to your child’s teacher – your child will need to be picked up from the central area in school.

If your child will be picked up by someone other than yourself on occasions, please make this known to your child’s teacher. We expect all children to be collected from school at 3.20pm, however in exceptional circumstances we do appreciate that this is not possible – for example if you have a child at another school - if this is the case please let us know in writing.

Please note that we cannot allow children to be picked up late due to parents’ work commitments – please make other arrangements to ensure your child is collected at 3.20pm.
