At Cedarwood we promote healthy living and encourage as many families as possible to walk, scoot or cycle to school whenever they can. There are bicycle and scooter racks for storage close to the main entrance and also in the Foundation Area. For safety reasons, we ask that all riders dismount safely just before entering the gates and walk their bicycle or scooter to the racks.
The school day starts at 8.45pm and ends at 3.20pm. The school gates are opened from 8.30am. In order that learning time is not disrupted, we ask that pupils arrive in good time for the start of the day. Pupils in Years 1 to 6 should be brought to and collected from the school playground, and Foundation children should be brought to and collected from their classrooms. Pupils using our Breakfast or After School Clubs should be brought to and collected from the studio or Beecroft via the main Reception Area.
If for any reason your child arrives after 8.45am, they must report to the main reception, via the front doors so that the office can register them. If your child has a medical appointment and you know they will be arriving after 8.45am please advise the school office beforehand along with their lunch choice if they require one. Please be advised that hot meal orders must be with the kitchen by 9.30am. If your child is absent from school for any unplanned reason (e.g. illness), please inform the school by telephone using the pupil absence message line each day that they are absent.
For safeguarding reasons, any unreported absences will be checked by the office staff at the close of registration and attempts will be made to contact parents then any additional named contacts. In the event that we are still unable to make contact and are unsure where a child is, we may need to report our concerns to the police.
Morning break is from 10.45am to 11.00am and lunch takes place from 11.45am for Foundation children and 12.00 for all other year groups. Lunch ends at 1.00pm for all pupils. Pupils in Key Stage 1 are provided with a morning snack of fruit or vegetables and are welcome to bring a healthy afternoon snack. Pupils in Key Stage 2 may bring a healthy snack for morning break. The school kitchen can provide fresh baked goods for purchase. Please speak to the school office for more information.
In the event that parents will be late to collect their child, we ask that you please let the office know as early as you can – preferably before 3pm – so that a message can be given to your child’s teacher – your child will need to be picked up from the central area in school. If your child will be picked up by someone other than yourself on occasions, please make this known to your child’s teacher.
For families that require before and after school provision, we have a very successful Breakfast and After School club at Cedarwood, please click here for further details.
